Stay At Home Style

It’s officially Fall – which means it’s time to chat Fall Fashion Trends!

But 2020 is a unique year, so I’m putting a different spin on things as I share my personal favourite Fall 2020 trends that are more realistic for our current stay at home lifestyles.

Something I like to call…

Stay At Home Chic.

So, what makes something “Stay at Home Chic“?

Well, it has to be comfy – suitable for a stay at home (and even work from home) lifestyle.

But it also has to be stylish enough that you still feel put together and wouldn’t be mortified if you had to answer the door to an unexpected guest or jump on a last minute Zoom call.

Here are my top picks for your Fall 2020 “Stay at Home Chic” wardrobe:

PLAID: Plaid is always a big trend for Fall, and this year is no different.

Whether it’s an oversized blazer thrown over top of your t-shirt for a last minute zoom call, or a scarf to add some visual interest to your basics, you can’t go wrong with plaid for Fall. EVER.

MIDI DRESSES: Who doesn’t love a one-and-done outfit? And a comfy one at that?

Whether it’s a sweater dress, a prairie style, or a denim shirtdress – a midi length makes it that much more comfy for sitting around the house in.

Add on a pair of tights and an accessory and you are good to go!

If you want to dress it up even more, belt it and add a layer like a cool faux fur or shearling vest (also popular for Fall 2020).

LOOSER FIT JEANS: Don’t worry, you don’t have to get rid of your skinny jeans!

But if you’re looking for a comfier option (besides leggings and track pants) for sitting at your work-from- home desk for the day, looser jeans are where it’s at this year!

We’re not talking boyfriend jeans though.

The looser style jeans of 2020 are still somewhat tailored with a medium to higher rise waist, but looser throughout the leg.

CAPES: Okay, so this one is not really something you would wear sitting around the house in, BUT it is such a versatile, comfortable, and functional item, I had to mention it.

Whether it’s long. short, patterned, or solid – it’s a great piece for your Fall 2020 wardrobe.

Throw it on over the the simplest of outfits and you are instantly styled and out the door.

If you want to take it up a notch and add some more shape, add a belt overtop.

Style Note: Because capes are shapeless and add extra volume up top, make sure to pair them with a fitted bottom like a straight or skinny leg jean/pant.
