As you may already (or not) know, Fall is my absolutely favourite fashion season.
I love Fall fashion – the colours, the textures, the layers!
For the past 6 weeks, I’ve been busy shopping with clients to help them build their new seasonal wardrobes, and let me tell you, there is no shortage of options out there right now.
But with so many options and trends, I understand it can become a bit overwhelming knowing which Fall fashions should make the cut and get the honour of being added to your wardrobe.
So today, I am sharing what I think are the top 5 things every woman needs in her Fall wardrobe.
The good news is that some of my top 5 may also happen to be very “on trend” at the moment, but they are also classic items that will stand the test of time and never go out of style either…so it’s the best of both worlds!
Plaid: Casual, classic, or sexy…plaid has the power to create all three vibes depending on how you wear it.
Some of my favourite options are a cozy plaid shirt worn with skinny jeans and a vest, a classic plaid scarf with your favourite Fall sweater, or a fun plaid skirt for the office.
Burgundy: A very “Fall” colour, Burgundy is also one of those colours that looks great on so many skin tones.
If that’s you, wear it near your face with a pretty sweater, blouse, or jacket.
If you’re not sure if it’s one of your best colours, wear it on the bottom with some burgundy skinny pants or a pair of shoes.
Dark Wash Jeans: Not only are dark wash jeans very figure flattering, but they also help add a dressed up look to your denim, which I love!
Whether you go for a skinny style, bootcut, or flared (or one of each!) this is a must have jean in every woman’s closet.
Ankle Booties: These short boots became a “trendy” item quite a while ago, but they’ve now become a classic piece of footwear that isn’t going anywhere.
Flat or heeled, simple or embellished, leather or suede, the choice is yours.
P.S. If you’re looking for some tips on how to wear ankle booties, check out this post here.
Layering Pieces: I LOVE layering pieces for their fun and functionality.
Not only are they functional in that they help add an extra layer of warmth on those chilly Fall days when it’s still not cool enough to wear a coat, but layers also add that extra style factor to your outfit making it that much more visually interesting and fun.
Who wouldn’t want that?
Some of my favourites include vests, jean jackets, and fun textured scarves.
Now, if you’re looking to add some of these Fall pieces (and more!) to your wardrobe this season and want some help doing it, you may want to check out my signature online program, Wardrobe Mixology.
